Articles (Technical/non-tehnical) about MMO engines
Now let me first get done with what unfortunately seems to be important: No I do not want to make the next WOW, neither do I wish to design an MMO myself. The following is purely for my own academic interest.
So now that we are done with the boring part :). I find the architecture needed to facilitate MMO (FPS and RPG) extremely fascinating. Towards getting a better understanding of them, I would like to read some articles focussing on the engine aspect of an MMO. I have had a look around, but have not had a lot of luck finding them. So if you know of any - or if you find any, then I would be very interested in them.
What i am looking for:
Technical articles covering:
Server side engine design
DB design for MMO systems
Game engine design (client side)
3D Engine design for MMO purposes
Both proper technical articles, as well as more "popularly" styled "story" articles are of interest here.
What I am not looking for but would probably read anyway:
Generic articles covering:
Network design for massive systems
How to build your own game engine
Developer article pimping a game (but nothing technical)
I dont know if I will get any answers, but thanks in advance for any time spend on this question.
